Olga Yakusheva

Professor of Nursing, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (at the time of recording)

From the recording

About this episode

Olga Yakusheva is an economist who studies nursing, and her reason is personal. While caring for her dying mother in a hospital in Kazakhstan, she saw that nurses gave the care that mattered most yet were treated as if they mattered least. Her Nursing Human Capital Value Model treats nurses as an investment rather than overhead. She explained why hospitals end up renting nurses instead of investing in them.
