From the recordings

What the room surfaced

The first room said all the right things about valuing people, and then told on itself. A health system CEO described a recovery protocol that cut opioid use by 60 percent, yet 85 percent of his surgeons opted out because that was not how they had always done it. A family physician admitted he isn't paid to keep you well. Our own survey of 12,000 leaders put numbers on the distance: 74 percent said they were at least sometimes mindful of their people's differences, while 80 percent of their employees said those leaders rarely were. Good intentions weren't missing. The systems to act on them were.

Conviction Wisdom

Leaders don't lack good intentions. They lack systems that let those intentions reach one person at a time.
