Forty-six leaders from healthcare, corporate and higher education met virtually over three days in October 2020, as the pandemic exposed how much of leadership still ran on standardization.

Forty-six leaders met over three days while the pandemic stripped away the stories institutions told about themselves. Hospitals, companies and universities that called themselves patient-, customer- and student-centered discovered how much had been built around their own convenience. One health system leader called it “a sick care system, not a healthcare system.” A business school dean asked how schools that teach innovation could refuse to practice it. A physician who had dismissed telehealth found she was learning more about her patients than she ever had in the exam room. The crisis didn't create the agility; it took away the reasons to wait.
A crisis shows you who your institution was really built to serve. Conviction is rebuilding it around the people it forgot.
